EKITI STATE: HIGH COURT SACKED BY HOODLUMS 

Pandemonium broke out at the premises of the Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti yesterday, as some angry youths invaded the court and disrupted proceedings on the eligibility of the Governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose to contest the June 21 governorship

election in the state.

The trial Judge, Justice Segun Ogunyemi, narrowly escaped being lynched by the youths over alleged ‘desperation for expeditious hearing’ of the case before Fayose would be sworn in on October 16, 2014.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Chairman of Ado West Local Government Development Authority, Mr Sunday Ibitoye and one of the plaintiffs, Mr Adeniyi Ajakaye, were beaten and chased out of the court promises, thereby leading to abrupt termination of the hearing of the case.

The youths, who invaded the courtroom brandishing dangerous weapons including clubs, cudgels and stones, neither allowed Justice Ogunyemi to commence the hearing of the case nor give adjournment date, as they ordered every one to leave.

Consequently, officials including Lawyers and the supporters of the party to the suit fled in different directions. A socio-political pressure group, E-11, and one Adeniyi Ajakaye, were challenging the eligibility of Fayose, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and winner of the Ekiti State June 21 gubernatorial election, to contest the election on the basis of his impeachment on October 16, 2006 by the then House of Assembly.
