State House of Assembly said yesterday that impeached Governor Murtala Nyako and his deputy, James Ngillari, can go to court. The latter resigned before being sacked.
The lawmakers spoke during a courtesy call and solidary visit by the state leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Acting Speaker, Kwamoti Laori, noting that they are ready to face any litigation.
The Acting Speaker told Chief Joel Madaki-led delegation that the impeachment was to salvage the state from misrule occasioned by alleged gross misconduct by Nyako.
According to him, the gross misconduct allegedly perpetrated by Nyako and his cabinet was so glaring that the other two arms of government had to salvage the ailing economy. Laori said the mandate given by the electorate was compromised by the former administration through frauds.
He, however, assured the PDP leadership of support in winning the forthcoming election, saying the PDP is a party to beat in the country, considering its manifestos and programmes.
Earlier, the state PDP Chairman, Chief Madaki commended the magnanimity of the lawmakers despite the alleged intimidation by the last executive.
He assured the Assembly of support to the legislative and executive arms towards realizing the dreams and aspirations being put in place for the people.
